Match Forge to Minecraft

Create and run the required vanilla Minecraft installation first, then install a Forge client build for that same release. For the supplied 1.12.2-labelled file, that means a Forge profile targeting Minecraft 1.12.2.

Use the correct launcher profile

• Select Forge before pressing Play.
• Check the game directory configured for that profile.
• Launch once so Forge creates its folders.
• Keep testing separate from current worlds and mod collections.

Place the file correctly

Put the intact .jar in the mods folder inside the active Forge game directory. Do not extract the archive, rename it to .mcpack or place it in resourcepacks.

Confirm Forge loaded the mod

• Open the Mods screen from the Forge menu.
• Check latest.log for dependency or version errors.
• Remove unrelated mods during the first test.
• If the entry is absent, verify the profile and folder before downloading again.
