Java Edition requirements

• Minecraft Java Edition installed and launched once.
• A Java runtime appropriate for the Minecraft/launcher version.
• The matching Forge profile when the mod requires Forge.
• A compatible .jar file placed in the correct mods folder.
• Enough memory for Minecraft, Forge and other installed mods.

Bedrock and mobile requirements

• Minecraft Bedrock/MCPE on a supported device.
• A valid .mcaddon or .mcpack file.
• Permission to open the file with Minecraft.
• Behavior and resource packs activated for the world.
• Experimental settings only when the add-on documentation requires them.

Storage and performance

The file size alone does not determine performance. Other mods, shader packs, world size, spawned entities and device memory can all affect loading and frame rate. Test with a clean profile or separate world before combining content.

Required safety preparation

• Back up the saves/worlds directory.
• Keep antivirus protection enabled.
• Record the original file hash.
• Avoid administrator access unless a trusted launcher genuinely requires it.
• Know how to remove the file or deactivate the packs.
